Not Guilty Plea Entered For Teves In Murder Case

SAP News TL, Philippines : The Manila court yesterday filed a plea of not guilty by expelled Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. related to a 2019 murder case.

Teves refused to enter a plea during his arraignment at the 12-branch Manila Regional Trial Court.

Teves was scheduled to stand trial on June 30, but that date was postponed because he was in prison undergoing an appendectomy at the Philippine General Hospital.

Court sets pretrial hearing for July 29, 2025

Teves had previously entered no plea to charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives. He is accused of the murder of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and six others in March 2023.

Teves also refused to enter a plea to terrorism financing charges filed against him in the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 77.

The Anti-Terrorism Council has designated Teves as a terrorist for his alleged involvement in the killings in Negros Oriental.

Previously, Arnie Teves stayed in Dili, so the security arrested and brought back Arnolfo Teves by plane to the Philippines on May 29, 2025.

Court statement on Arnolfo Teves Jr. not guilty in the murder case that happened in 2019 has been submitted, so will move to the next trial.
