G7+ Secretary General Helder da Costa said, in this meeting he informed the Head of Government about the international conference held in the Republic of China, participated by G7+ to respond to the invitation sent by Thailand to Timor-Leste.

The Secretary General of the G7+ justifies that the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste has previously informed Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão regarding the participation of the G7+ in the international conference held in the Republic of China to discuss the Government. Timor-Leste’s readiness to support China’s development assistance in G7+ member states, he said.
“The Prime Minister has met with the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, the Ambassador also informed about this, so in the Bizin conference, we also talked about how we can promote China’s development assistance in the country G7+ member states, because they are very pleased to hear that President José Ramos Horta will pay an official visit to China on July 27 or 28 this year to meet with his counterpart, President Jinping”. The international organization G7+ together with the Head of Government, also discussed the strategic plan to organize a high-level event international peace conference to be held in New York in September, thus also requesting the availability of the Prime Minister to traveled to New York to participate.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão also directed g7+ to prepare well before participating in the international conference event that will accumulate some Heads of State including Heads of Government and Ministers to talk about progress and challenges that the g7+ faces because the g7+ is a well-known international organization.
“The Prime Minister gave guidance that we will prepare an event that will involve some Heads of State, Heads of Government, Ministers of the G7+ to talk about the progress of the challenges facing the G7+, we will talk about this, because currently g7+ tournament- if a well-known entity recognized internationally”.
“We ask the Secretary of State to maintain responsibility with this great task to be able to examine information about the G7+, promote Timor-Leste’s role as a host country for the G7+ so that we can continue to transmit good name and good work that we Timorese can do at the international level”.
In addition to giving guidance to the G7+, the Head of Government also appreciated the work of the G7+ which works together with international member countries to disseminate information, support the Government’s work at national, regional and international levels.
Thus, Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, committed that through the visit of Pope Francis to Timor-Leste PM will inform Pope Francis about Timor-Leste’s role at the international level.
“The Pope’s visit to Timor, our Prime Minister also seeks to find ways to continue to examine Timor-Leste’s role at the international level, to promote peace and reconciliation to other countries, so as to continue to examine information about the G7+ his work, we also heard that in August this year Timor-Leste will receive a visit from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, g7+ will seek to work together with the Secretary General’s availability to participate in the high-level event g7+ in September”.
He added, Currently the deputy secretary general of the G7+ is working in New York to discuss with member states, how to prepare mechanisms for the event of the international conference of the G7+ that will accumulate member countries from many countries in New York.
“My deputy is currently there talking to other member states in New York, we have 20 member states that are accredited member countries in New York, preparations are underway, this event and big, so it is very important that we come to the briefing, PM has also given guidance so that we can work better with responsibility”.
Meanwhile, the G7+ is made up of seven countries and this global recognition is also confirmed by a study by the BRICS Policy Center that analyzes the influence of the G7+ since its inception. and in 2010, its peace and development agendas and development partner actions focused on fragile states. The report outlines the challenges facing the G7+, confirms the organization’s fundamental impact at the global level and recognizes the important role played by the Government of Timor-Leste.
The g7+ intergovernmental organization, established in 2010 on the initiative of Timor-Leste, the g7+ organization, was recently established by seven countries, and now consists of 20 countries from Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean and the Middle East: Afghanistan , Burundi, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Yemen, Solomon Islands, Liberia, Papua New Guinea, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan , Timor-Leste and Togo. The total population of the countries that make up the G7+ organization is 1.5 billion people.
