After Deportation, NIB Presents Arnei Teves Jr to the Public

SAPNewsTL, Philippines : After the Government of Timor-Leste deported Arnie Teves Jr. from Dili on May 29, Director of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) Jaime Santiago presented the former Representative of District 3 Negros Oriental to the Filipino people.

Director of the National Bureau of Investigation Jaime Santiago introduced the arrested fugitive and former Negros Oriental Representative Arnie Teves, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of former Governor Roel Degamo, during a press conference in Pasay City.

Teves was arrested in Timor-Leste on May 27 after years in hiding. He faces multiple charges, including murder in connection with the 2023 killing of Degamo and 10 others, and the killing of three people in 2019. He was expelled from the House of Representatives in August 2023, and later designated a terrorist by the Anti-Terrorism Council.

Earlier, Philippine President Marcos Ferdinand declared former Representative Arnie Teves Jr. returned to the Philippines because Timor-Leste is ready to send and receive hard work from Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and President José Ramos Horta.

“Former Representative Arnie Teves Jr. has now returned to the Philippines, I received information about this development from Prime Minister Gusmão during the ASEAN meeting that I just returned from Kuala Lumpur.

“Timor Leste is ready to send Teves back to the Philippines. So this will not happen without the assistance of President Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão of Timor-Leste.

“They are working very hard to bring this to a conclusion as we know that former Congressman Arnie Teves is facing charges of murder and other crimes related to the ambush killing of former Gov. Digamo.” Briefs Philippine President Marcos Ferdinand in the Philippines, 29/05/2025

The Philippine president said citizen Arnie Teves Jr. is time to face justice.

“We also want to assure all of our citizens that such lawlessness will not go unpunished and it is now time for Arnie Davis to face justice.” He stated

Citizen Arnie Teves Jr is facing several criminal charges in the Philippines, including 13 counts of murder, 13 counts of attempted murder and 4 counts of frustrated murder, related to crimes committed between 2019 and 2023, including the assassination of then Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
