Rabilau Festival ! A Vibrant Celebration of Cultural Heritage, Traditional & Natural Beauty

SAPNewsTL, Dili – President of the Republic José Ramos Horta in collaboration with the IX Constitutional Government organizes the Rabilau Festival 2024 in Maubisse, Ainaru Municipality.

The Rabilau Festival is an important cornerstone of Timor-Leste’s National Tourism Promotion Program, which aims to strengthen the national industry in the arts and culture sector, as well as promote the country’s cultural, traditional and natural beauty to the world.

President of the Republic José Ramos Horta is proud to host the Rabilau Festival 2024, a vibrant celebration of Timor-Leste’s cultural heritage, traditions and natural beauty.

“The festival will be held on Mount Rabilau, at the Maubisse Administrative Post, from October 16 to October 19, 2024”. According to President of the Republic José Ramos Horta through a press release, Dili, 10/12/2024.

This event is the result of a collaboration between the President of the Republic and the IX Constitutional Government. A joint commission has been formed, with President Ramos-Horta as sponsor and the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Mariano Assanami Sabino, leading the initiative.

The Rabilau Festival 2024 lists several programs, namely, “1. Cultural performances featuring Timorese music, dance and traditional musical instruments, 2. Painting, koremetan music and digital art competitions, 3. Gastronomy competitions and exhibitions featuring local food.”

“4. Book fair and local product bazaar, 5. Modern music performances by Timorese artists, 6. Children’s activities and cinema, 7. Local sports events and 8. Guided exploration of Mount Rabilau”.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate José Ramos-Horta emphasized that the Rabilau Festival is not just a tourism event, it is a celebration of our cultural heritage and an invitation to the world to discover how beautiful Timor-Leste is. We are very excited to welcome visitors to experience our unique culture and the hospitality of our people.”

The four-day event promises to be an exciting showcase of Timorese identity and an invitation to the world to explore the natural beauty of this country.

Visitors to the Rabilau Festival will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Timorese culture through traditional craft workshops, guided tours of historical sites, and ecotourism activities showcasing Timorese scenery.

The Rabilau Festival will start on 15-19 October 2024, and the Head of State and government team are now in Rabilau, Maibisse Administrative Post, Ainaru Municipality to prepare for the festival.
