Sign Agreement With HWPL, MHESC Will Include Peace Education In Curriculum

SAPNewsTL, Dìli – To improve the quality of education to promote peace, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MHESC), its Director General of Higher Education signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL).

Pereira Jeronimo said, The objective of this memorandum is an understanding with HWPL and the director general of higher education, as well as between universities to talk about promoting peace education in Timor-Leste, in the future the Ministry will include peace education in the curriculum
“The International Organization Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light established an important agreement with MHESC such as an understanding with HWPL and the Director General of Higher Education. Also between universities to talk about peace, we all know that East Timor has a long conflict, so peace is very important,” said Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture José Honório da C.P. Jeronimo through his speech at, MESCC Hall Kolmera, (16/07/2024)
Minister José Honório added, to promote peace education in Timor-Leste, HWPL starts from education, at a higher level and is very important in this establishment because it can educate young people how to create peace in the community, society, and the nation to develop Timor, he said.
“The Ministry of Higher Education Science and Culture signed an agreement between HWPL from Korea, which talks more about peace education, because in Korea currently there is a long conflict, and HWPL which talks about peace, one hundred and seventy (170) countries are involved in it, including our country is also involved in it, how can we be ready to cooperate with HWPL”.

He added, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture, ready to cooperate and take responsibility together with HWPL who came from Korea and a detailed discussion especially the promotion of peace education in higher education.
“MHESC has responsibility with HWPL that comes from Korea, so in establishing an agreement today in a detailed discussion for the future also put peace education in the curriculum to teach to higher education to empower youth they are about peace and creating peace in education in Timor Leste and peace has become an activity that benefits many people”.
The universities that signed the agreement with HWPL are the Timorese Catholic University (UCT), UNITAL, Institute Superior Cristál (ISC), Polytechnic Institute of Betanu (IPB) and others.
Meanwhile, the establishment of an agreement between Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture with a duration of one year to promote peace education in Timor-Leste.
