According to information accessed by SAPNews from Syrian citizens, Greek Truth News who arrived at the scene quoted that the incident occurred in Syria resulting in 22 people killed and 63 injured.

Yesterday, at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church. Elias in Damascus, Syria, a jihadist suicide bomber who used an explosive belt entered the parish during the Divine Liturgy, opened fire on parishioners, then detonated himself killing 22 innocent people and wounding many more.
“We denounce an evil rooted in radical Islamic extremism, which seeks to destroy believers. We call on all people of good will to stand against such hatred.”
“Let us pray fervently for the victims, their families, and the persecuted Christian brothers and sisters of Syria.”
In addition, the Facebook page Hellenic Heroes also reported that the terror incident affected believers, this situation makes Orthodox Christians in the world feel sadness and grief.

The terrorist opened fire on parishioners, men, women, even children, before detonating his explosive vest during prayers inside the church.
“At least 22 innocent people were killed today. More than 63 more were injured. Witnesses said some of those killed were children who had come to pray.” He stressed
This attack is the first against the Syrian church in years to crush the fragile ones.

The incident resulted in the destruction of infrastructure and sacred objects inside the church including statues, images, tables, chairs, books, cloth and others.
