China Declares Continued Support For Timor-Leste Development
SAPNewsTL, Dili – Prime Minister Kayrala Xanana Gusmão met with Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Sun Haiyan, the objective of the meeting was to discuss economic development cooperation between the two countries for the future.
Prime Minister Kayrala Xanana Gusmão said China has signed an agreement with Timor-Leste, so they met today to affirm and ensure that they will do what they can for economic development.
“I am very grateful, today met the Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Sun Haiyan, she came after the President of the Republic to visit them (China), came to affirm that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that they signed, to ensure that what they can do, they will do especially on development”. Prime Minister Kayrala Xanana Gusmão told reporters at the Government Palace, 01/08/2024
The Prime Minister said the meeting also discussed ASEAN issues, economic development cooperation between the two countries in the future.
“Today, talking about issues in general, also talking about ASEAN issues, cooperation on economic development, he (Sun Haiyan) came to affirm that the Chinese Government continues to support us as they used to support us”. Xanana Gusmão underlines
In the same place, Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Sun Haiyan informed that the visit of President Jose Ramos Horta to China has signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the future.
“I came as Deputy Minister of International Department, your President of the Republic (Jose Ramos Horta) to meet Xi Jinping (President of China), the meeting was very successful, signed MoU, consensus for future cooperation between countries two, the two Presidents signed a development agreement between the two countries”. Sun Haiyan declared
Sun Haiyan reaffirmed that China’s support to Timor-Leste will continue as it did before independence, so that we can work together and bring better lives to the people of both countries.
“Today we met with the Prime Minister, we had a very good discussion about partnership, China has always stood with Timor-Leste in the history of Timor-Leste’s struggle for independence and development. Therefore, China and Timor Leste will work together to bring better lives to the people of both countries.” Sun Haiyan concludes
Meanwhile, the meeting between Prime Minister Kayrala Xanana Gusmão met with the Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Sun Haiyan was held at the land and maritime border office of the Government Palace in Dili.
