After the disaster, communities rushed to the scene to help the victim but could not save because of the plane’s strong explosion.
The Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Méndez, Nestor Montesdeoca, feels sad because Father Enio Esteves also lost his life in the accident.
“We are in mourning. Our condolences to those who came to the Apostolic Vicariate of Mendez and the Salesian families,” the religious leader wrote.

Father Enio was a missionary, a Timorese son who became a faithful servant of the Gospel in Ucuador, a man who dedicated himself to the Achuar and Shuar people.
